Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

13. How do I monitor database servers behind firewall?

Use your preferred web programming language (eg. ASP, JSP, PHP, Coldfusion, Perl) to write a script to connect to the database server and perform a simple query. If the query executed successfully, the script outputs something like "Database server is UP".

Lastly, go to Monitoring -> Add a Test and select to monitor a website. Enter the URL of the script and specify the required keyword "Database server is UP". If our system can't find the keyword on the page, it will notify you and you know the database server is down.
